I was browsing on the Moutere Inn website and came across a remarkable link providing information – and a map – on all of the best craft breweries in the Nelson Tasman region. Fantastic …and thank you Moutere Inn.
Lynne and I have visited often – with guests – the picture at the right has our beer loving friend Morten from Denmark celebrating with Lynne on a winter afternoon. You have a great hotel – good beer, good food and pleasant company – and now a website that is a must visit for all beer lovers.
The number of craft breweries in the region is outstanding , many of which are located in or near Mapua and the Moutere Hills. When we think about the Great Taste Trail there is a bit of misconceived “lock-in/lock-out” : we think tasting means wine tasting. But what about beer tasting ? I agree, the term beer tasting doesn’t quite have the right ring to it – “let’s go down for a beer mate” sounds much better . But what can you do? words, eh (betraying my Canadian origins)? Back to the breweries, ….absolutely fantastic! I’ve been thinking about offering driving to and from local wineries as part of a promotion for those guests staying 2 days or more with us, but now I see that I need to be extending that to craft breweries – so many varieties at so many venues, and so little time! No wonder the native Australian masculanis austalianus rex makes Nelson Tasman their second home.
Here’s a screen shot of the map available on the beertourism site: with a graphic and a link back to the original site with all the lsitings!
